The amount of time it takes San Francisco police to arrive on the scene following a top priority call dropped significantly from fiscal year 2001-02 to fiscal year 2002-03. From July 2002 through June 2003, the San Francisco Police Department reports that it responded to such calls in an average of 5.8 minutes, down from 9.7 over the same period the previous year, and 10.5 minutes the year before.
